Like thriving companies, successful business people have a lot in common. But what are these commonalities, and what do the world’s top business people believe it takes to succeed?

Surveying a number of wealth experts, CNNMoney recently concluded that the very successful are: entrepreneurial, always on the clock, high in energy, extremely confident, discerning, modest, and risk tolerant.

These seven shared traits typically align business people with success; however history’s most influential entrepreneur personalities have their own ideas what it takes to make it.

1) Put first things first

2) Take calculated risks

“To win big, you sometimes have to take big risks.” – Bill Gates

3) Be persistent

7) Surround yourself with good people

“I’ve been blessed to find people who are smarter than I am, and they help me to execute the vision I have.” – Russell Simmons
